Reed-Solomon codec
Recently I wrote this Reed-Solomon codec.
A small test program to run it is also available.

Areas
- Data dissemination
- Distributed systems and algorithms
- Coding and Information Theory
Current Work
- Storage
-
My work on storage focuses on the use of erasure codes in
fault-tolerant distributed storage. More information on my
work in this area can be found in my list of publications
and preprints.
- Data dissemination
-
I have worked on schemes for efficient content distribution
and media streaming.
My current focus is on video-on-demand over wide-area
networks. My master's thesis
describes the design and implementation of a scalable
video-on-demand scheme over the Internet. This technique,
which we call Fuzzycast , uses efficient network
supported broadcast mechanisms (e.g., IP multicast) to
simultaneously satisfy multiple requests for the same data.
Fuzzycast relies on a patented
periodic broadcast mechanism and uses the least server
bandwidth of all known periodic broadcast
video-on-demand schemes, while also being very simple to
build and deploy.
